Some Key Points On 9/11
There has been a lot of coverage in the media where families of 9/11 have urged that New York Mayor Mamdani not attend memorials to the event. There is no question that this guy’s background and prior positions validate that position.
But there are others who should be on the keep-out list as well, due to incredibly inept and sloppy and political handling of the entire before-during-and-after 9/11 saga.
Draw your own conclusions, based on the following.
There was direct and adequate prior identification of the threat. In May 2000, Red Team FAA Security Inspectors, led by Brian Sullivan, issued a report that lax security at Boston Logan could engender multiple hijackings. The report was ignored by the FAA leadership of Jane Garvey. The inspectors’ report was acknowledged but ignored by the office of Senator John Kerry.
Note also that the 9/11 Commission report made barely a footnote on the testimony of these security inspectors, and intentionally did nothing to hold Garvey and others responsible for this tragic malfeasance.
Repeat again: because the sloppy reporters getting spoon-fed the official TSA pablum won’t cover it: the FAA was officially advised of dangerously bad airport security as late as four months before 9/11, and the AVSEC security system that was – and still is – in place filtered it out. It also comes out just in August 2026 that both the Obama and the Bush administrations were provided CIA intelligence that major attacks on aviation were possible.
No Federal staff were investigated or held accountable. The Bush Administration, then with seat warmer and professional cabinet sitter Norman Mineta as DOT Secretary, made no serious efforts to investigate how this failure occurred, or hold anyone responsible. Not one FAA or other federal security employee was ever investigated. In fact, many moved on to fill positions at the new Transportation Security Administration. Rewarded by the Bush Administration.
The Bush Administration congratulated the bureaucrats responsible. The dust had yet to settle over the Trade Towers, at the Pentagon, or at the crash site in rural Pennsylvania before the Bush administration was making statements thanking the FAA for their “fine work” through this tragedy. Initially around 3,000 people died – more than at Pearl Harbor. The FAA security failed. And was congratulated.
Remember: A lot of media coverage cannot be trusted. Interviews with TSA/HSA officials rarely never go into hard questions. The majority of media coverage of the TSA is more like a groupie speaking with a rock star. No hard questions. Just nodding and maybe a few seconds of rehearsed B-roll. Most – not all, but most – network coverage of the TSA has been done by professional hucksters posing as network correspondents that posture as “experts” after a ten-minute interview with some political appointee.
Take a look: just about every story involving the top officials is more accurately a report, informing us of the latest party line from whatever official is sitting in the front office.
Next time a pandering academic issues a glowing report on progress in airport security, ask this one question: Please give me the results of the latest testing on screening.
You will not get an answer. The TSA will not disclose this information. There is a reason.
There’s more, but food for thought.
